Good Combo?

Currently use a 50D with 17-55mm 2.8 for my portraits, finding it a lil short some times....

so............................

I was thinking of getting a 5D (and keeping the 50D) with either 85mm using my legs more, or a mix of 24-105 or 85mm and 70-200.

Any one agree or disagree before I splash out?

24-105L is awesome of the 5D/5Dmk2. Anything else depends upon what you shoot really.

It would be the 5d2 I meant btw.

It would mainly be used for portrait sessions. It sounds like the perfect range but not sure if I will miss the 2.8.

I have and love the 5DmkII - most of the time I have my 70-200 on the front of it (over 80% of my photos are taken with this lens), it's an excellent combo. I did have a 24-105 but found that I didn't use it much so have just sold it... recently picked up an 85 f1.8 and so far am impressed by it. Should that the 5DmkII is in a different league to the 50D, well worth the hefty price tag.

I was thinking if i could manage with just the 70-200 as it would be wider than the 1.6 crop ratio etc.

I would still like to keep the 50d as a backup and I also use it for macro and a 300mm so the 1.6 is handy.

I use a 10mm at the moment to, efs. Don't fancy swapping it for a full frame equivalent, but then maybe I should down size and get the new bits for portraits as thats where the money is coming in at the moment.
