Good deal for starter?

I was looking to getting a 300mm zoom lens for my Canon 450D and came across this on ebay.

This a good deal? Advice please.

If you can live without the extra 50mm, I'd be more inclined to get the excellent Canon 55-250mm IS for about that kind of money (once you've taken into account duty charges and what have you!)

It's okay, but you'd be looking to upgrade eventually, and will likely lose money.

I'd look around second hand, some great deals around and if you buy right, you'll never lose much cash if you decide to upgrade at a later date.

I'd be wary of buying a package deal like that from the States.

As has already been mentioned, you'll get much better value for money if you buy second hand and they will pretty much retain their value as long as you look after them.
