Hi Mick,

Have a search on this forum for redsnapper. ;)

for that price redsnapper, a decent head is between half and same again on your legs, so with head that'd be 175 (my mate just bought 190 xprob's with a 460mg head)

What do you want to use it for as 3 way heads are better for landscapes and architecture whereas ball heads are better for studio stuff

You should be able to get a pretty good one for £100 (in fact, you dont really need to spend that much!)

I went to Wales the other week and "forgot" ;) my broken but useable old cheapo tripod, so the perfect opportunity to purchase a new one en-route presented itself to me...

I popped into Jessops and had a good look and feel of all their tripods. Settled on a Camlink TPPR024A for £70 which is a great tripod. Very sturdy, adjustable and quick to use (lots of quick releases!).

The 3 way head, which again is solid metal and very sturdy, can be removed if you feel the need to change it, which I shouldnt think you would really need to do. As above, is there anything specific about the head you need?

EDIT - this tripid is now £45 at Binoculars UK ltd - http://www.binoculars-uk.co.uk/acatalog/Camlink_TP_PRO_Tripods.html - an absolute bargain!
