Since joining this forum have learned loads and been glued to auction sites looking for my very first DSLR, I missed a bargain today (or at least I thought it looked like a bargain) and was just thinking, am I being impatient just buying without trying? and also, shall I wait until I have posted enough/been a member long enough to look on the classifieds on here? I'm finding it so frustrating! I could do with saving up really but my impulsive shopping gene is working overtime and I'm itching to get started!

Basically, I think I am looking for a used Canon EOS 350/400/450D which are in my budget but I would really like a telephoto lens such as the tamron 70 - 300mm with it. HELP!:dummy:

With auction sites i tend to put the maximum i'm prepared to pay in. If the auction goes over that price, well i wasn't prepared to pay that :D My biggest problem is waiting for one auction to finish before bidding on the next, been really lucky that i've never won 2 of the same thing yet!

Rebels aren't exactly rare so you'll get one soon enough.

Hi Anna, you wouldn't buy a car without test driving it first, and its the same with a camera. You may like the spec of the 450D but you might find it feels uncomfortable in your hands, likewise with the to other models you mentioned. Spend some time going to camera shops and trying these XXXD out, check the weight and balance and see how they feel in your hands, try one with a 70-300mm, you might find its to heavy for you. Then once you determine exactly what suits then purchase one.
