GOPRO camera

I'm thinking of getting one of these new HE hero 2's for my trip to Egypt.

It will be used underwater for video and stills and also just a general camera to supplement my dslr.

Anyone had any experience with it??

Yeah I have one.
Pretty good, although the controls are a bit awkward. Quality is good for video, stills not so much.
I also have the bacpac LCD which makes composition a bit easier.

Ah....I didn't think of that...that you actually can't see what you are shooting...hmmm...

There are 3 versions of the gopro hero...

The original non-hd
The hd hero
The hd hero 2

The hd hero was excellent, the hd hero 2 is even better quality and does 11mp stills. I took a hd hero round new york and got some amazing uwa stills with it. I also attached them to my motorbike and mx5

The range of different fixings and clamps/straps also means you can attach it to virtually anything.

Yeah, it comes with several different rear end housings that for the standard housing.

I was using it today and a BBC camera man saw it and said he had three!

Full HD footage seems to need a decent PC to view it on, well it doesn't play smoothly on the cheap work laptop I have.

I'm sure thats just for the LCD bacpac. Amazon seem to have the best price for the HD Hero 2.

Yeah you need a fairly decent PC or laptop to run a 1080 video. I have a self built PC with 2GB of ram, Q6600 processor and an SSD which full hd videos play fine on. They also play fine on my base spec 13" 2011 macbook pro.
