GoPro for timelapse HD vs HD2?

I would like a GoPro camera purely for timelapse. It won't get a lot of use, but when it is used, it needs to be of acceptable quality. I use a 5dmk2 for stills, but don't want to use it for timelapse.

Is there much benefit in going for the HD2 when the HD is £100 (1/3rd) cheaper? £200 is much easier to justify for a toy over £300!

Does anyone use a GoPro for this purpose?
 
I use my HD2 all the time for timelapses, works great. Image quality and size is improved over the HD, dunno about anything else.
 
Hmmm, £155 for the HD vs £250 for the HD2!

The HD seems a good buy for a toy, especially considering used prices are crazy high, so it should be easy to sell if it isn't good enough.
 
Go for the HD2. I've had a HD and I've recently gotten rid of it, as far as time lapses go, the picture quality of the HD2 is far greater than the HD, and yes you do notice it.

I'm probably one of the very few people to break their HD2's. I dropped it off of a very high building near where I live, talking about 120ft drop here, and I smashed the case to pieces. The camera still worked, but the case/plastics/protective stuff was ruined. Sent it off for repair!
 
Is it really that much better? The extra £100 makes it somewhat hard to justify considering the amount of use it will get!
 
It's newer kit and not only is the image processing powerful, therefor faster. Don't forget aswell, the extra £100 is you buying something brand new. With a decent warranty etc on a brand new piece of kit, not spending less and evidently, getting less.
 
The GoPro HD is brand new as well, it's just not the latest model.

I haven't seen anything to make me really want the HD2 over the standard HD yet.
 
I gave in.

GoPro HD Hero 2 is now on the way from Amazon! £240, which seemed a good price.
 
Good price, yep! I paid £250 for mine about 2 weeks ago. There were some on Ebay for £230 last week, and I almost bought another, til I saw my credit card statement!
 
I have just purchased a hd2 it's amazing. Very pleased with it. I mainly use mine for kayaking.
However I am looking to do some time
Lapse clips to put in my videos.
What settings do you use on the gopro?
And time for the daft question. How do you charge your gopro and use it outside for such long periods (please excuse my ignorance)
