GoPro mission 1 MFT

I gather the micro 4/3 doesnt have auto focus which might be an issue. Wonder if it has a microphone input without having to buy a media mod? The 1 inch sensor is long overdue as is better low light. Real world overheating tests are what many will wait for.

Yes. Someone did comment on there being no electrical contacts.
Was wondering if the pictures were just pre production models

I cant see where they are going with this to be honest. It's like they took a GoPro and grafted on a lens. Why not make a proper micro 4/3 camera if your going to.
If it's an interchangable lens action camera then they need rugged custom lens to survive the bumps and knocks, not just any old 3/4 lens, if it's a proper camera why make it look like a Gopro in the first place. I'm baffled.
Think I'll stick with DJI and Sony.

I don't think it can have electrical contacts because it's not an official micro 4/3 product. To be able to sell a micro 4/3 camera that's electronically compatible with micro 4/3 lenses, the company needs to be a member of the micro 4/3 group and also the camera needs comply with various requirements including having a sensors with a 4/3in diagonal (not a 4:3 aspect ratio though). Looking at the micro 4/3 page they're not showing GoPro as a member and the camera couldn't be micro 4/3 because of the 1in sensor, I don't think the m4/3 communication has been reverse engineered however I've not been following micro 4/3 closely for a while

I feel quite confused by it as well. I'm guessing they're using the physical micro 4/3 mount because it's easily available and there probably isn't any reason to support micro 4/3 lenses since they would need to be durable as you've mentioned plus they're going to need to be designed for the much smaller sensor as the equivalent focal lengths will be too long otherwise.

I'm not sure what the purpose for these cameras are although they're clearly not for someone like me, I was amused at a comment on the announcement asking why aren't they making action cameras. I've been using DJI Osmo Action cameras for a while because they seem to have focused on practicality over headline features.
