Just wondering, I picked up a Gorillapod SLR Zoom from the forum a while back and never really used it, now I've got a Compact System its much more usable and been looking at getting a ballhead.
I know there is a Joby ballhead available but I wondered if there was anything else similar, perhaps cheaper?
 
I just bought the Jobo head for use with my GF2, its a great little head with a clip off plate which is why I like it.

Small, light and solid.
 
I have one of these from Red Snapper (RSH-20 Mini Ball Head) they do not have it listed seperately on their site instead it is listed with a monopod.

I phoned them up and they sold me one over the phone for £14.95 + 2.95 p&p (march 2010)

Sorry to gatecrash,
But does anyone use these gorillapods i was thinking of getting one for travelling abroad and wondered if they are any good. i use a D90

How do you find the Redsnapper head? Does it have a quick release?

I have one, and my Manfrotto 494RC2 holds the D90 fine with it, have never had the opportunity to use it though.
 
I used the same redsnapper ballhead on a slr zoom gorillapod on a recent holiday.

Worked well enough for me, this shot was taken with the camera precariously perched on top of a balustrade hand rail over the waterfall.

I thought I'd give it another go with the SB-900 on as well as the grip (6lb 5oz total weight). A little bit of fiddling with the legs and this has now been solid in this position for the last 15 mins. This is largely down to the Gorillapod Focus but the ball head is clearly up to the task as well.

Mine had an adapter when i got it. It had in internal thread to fit on the small stud on the gorillapod and an external thread to take it up to the larger size.

The red snapper ball head only needs the small thread anyway.

Well I decided to order the dearer lighter head as it used the same QR plates as what I already have but it needs the larger thread, does anyone know where I can get a thread adaptor to take my Gorillapod from 3/8 inch up to 1/4 inch?

Tried Jessops but they seem to be something thats not in stock
