Anyone any experience of the Gorillapod SLR Zoom and the Trek-Tech Optera 460?

I'm look for something to take on holiday and I was on the verge of getting the Gorillapod but then I discovered the Trek-Tech and wondered whether it was worth the extra £20. Not that it should be a consideration, but the Trek-Tech does look rather nice. So has anyone here used both and is there a big difference between the two?

I have the smaller Gorillapod. It does what it says, but credit where it's due as that Trek-Tech looks rather more robust (and weatherproof).

No problem - consider it payment in kind for recent advice. :)

I'd be interested to hear how it works out - I may need to upgrade the gorillapod at some point.

Not to dig up an old post... But did you go for the 460?

As i got one last year... Its absoutle massive... I sold mine within 2 days as it was just tooo big for a sigma 100-300 f4 that I had at the time..

If you haven't then I would say stick with the Joby...

Better off with a cheap gorrillapod copy from dealextreem. works just as well as the real ones but costs nowhere near as much well untill I stuck a Manfrotto 494RC2 ball head on top. I have had it gripping on to all sorts curtain poles, ladder rungs and sides, car wing mirrors. works really well and i don't normally do cheap coppies but I wanted somthing I could leave in the bag to stop me haveing to rest the camera direct on walls and other stuff that could scratch it.
