I have been asked to take some portraits of 3 children and their mum on Saturday. :D The idea was to do it in a local park with the kids playing with bubbles etc and there are some woods and steps etc that would be nice for set portraits. Problem is weather. It looks like its going to rain:'(, so I have suggested some portraits in the home . Real shame as I think it would have been nice!

Anyhow, being my first portrait session (unpaid but thats not the point) I know they have a fairly neutral living from and a sofa so think I will base the pictures around that. I will be using either available light or my flash in a softbox and a reflector. I have 3 lenses 18-55, 50mm and 105mm.

Has anyone got any tips around formal portraits of 3-4 people on a sofa as it is something I have never tried!:bonk:

If you've got the softbox, use it mate as it will do you wonders in an environment like a family living room. As for poses the only thing I can recommend is trying to get them bunched up together in a sort of rugby scrum / huddle as that can work for you in terms of space and fun-factor ;)

Cheers Steffan - I thought it was a wise investment from FITP! I was also thinking (if theres room!) to move said sofa forward and do some shots with the the older one pering over etc... I guess I will have to see how it goes!
