Gran Canaria Locations?

My better half and myself are off to Gran Canaria this weekend, Maspalomas to be more specific.

I was wondering if anyone had any great locations I should check out? In particular, interesting locations for portraits etc. but also any stunning views and the like.

There may well be nothing but sand dunes, but I thought it was work asking!

Finally, if there is a more appropriate section for this, then please feel free to move it

I went to GC a few months ago, great place we stayed in Anfi... took the ferry to Mogan, that place is pretty cool makes some nice pictures. Nice colors etc... don't bother with the submarine its a waste of money... have fun!

we went to maspolomas 2 years back and stayer at the mariott golf resort on top of the hill. It is a LONG way up, but if you don't have a place booked already it was beautiful. There is a bunch of sand, but not dunes. It is more like the american southwest with lots of rock and sand interspersed. Go inland for great views and backgrounds. We didn't make the trip, but I understand there is a great national park on the opposite side of the island. If you have a car or rent one, then it could be a nice trip. We just wanted to lounge by the pool and relax, so no adventure that trip.
