Went to the Granite City Rally today, was a good day managed to go to two of the stages, here are 3 photos from many. these are a couple of my favs from today.

I like the compositions of the shots, but they look slightly soft to me (y)
 
#2 is a good one - I like the way you can see where the car has been...
 
i know what you mean about being soft, quite a few of them are like that, altho it was my first outing to a motorsport event with my dslr and first outing with my 55-250mm, i will just keep trying. im sure i will get it some other time.

Do they look soft straight out of the camera you maybe just need to sharpen them after re-sizing them for the web (y)
 
ye think i will go through them and see if sharpening makes much of a difference. cheers
 
hey macky799, feel free to have a shot at re-shapening if you like, i been having a play about with them but cant really seem to get them much better, :shrug:

right i have had a go at sharpening the image, i have tried it both in Photoshop cs3, does this look better now?

If the pics are from Feteresso S2 then he was probably being screamed at by the marshals :annoyed: to get off the track even though he may have been a few meters away.. Poor marshalling made it very difficult to get a good spot for photos.

Don't take it out on the marshalls - they are there for YOUR safety. Some of the stupidity I saw on Stage 2, morons still walking down the track with cars racing up behind them was unreal...

Do the smart thing - get a big lens, look like a pro, and they leave you alone (Sigma 100-300mm f/4 did the trick for me on Fetteresso 2!!)
 
The marshals on s5 were great, but I just felt she was treating people like idiots. I thought a fight was going to break up at one point. The marshall calling a spectator a fat b'stard didn't impress me much. Granted I did see a few people strolling though when they could have been doing with upping the pace a bit. Anyway that all a bit off topic :D

Chris we must have been fairly close because your shots are very similar to mine, I will have a try at your Focus tomorrow in CS3 see what I can do with it. The evo isn't taking up the whole image but I kind of like that.. gives you more of an impression of speed.. as if it's just been catapulted over the hill.

A similar one I took but from Fet reverse.. I like the thundering towards you look

Was also out and about at the rally. Managed a visit to the VIP/Press Day on Friday too.

Can't see all of Chris's pics here at work as Photobucket is blocked!! However, the one of Dave Weston which has been sharpened and re-posted looks good.

Hi Ross

Did you find somewhere good in SS5? We followed you up the access road then branched off left and drove to a midpoint in SS4.

Are you posting any pics or are they with Martin & Ange?

We went to junction 3 on SS5 which was part of the VIP day I think, it was quite good but prefered the hairpin on SS1 we was at. Got a go of one AML's pro lenses, what a difference it made:D

No pics from me as AML has them.
