Sorry if this is a daft question, but i know nothing about the runnings of computermebob thingies.
I have anEmachines 3260, which i believe (?) to have PCI slots.
I have a new 22" monitor, but the graphics will only go up to 1280pix, the monitor recommends more than this.
Will a graphocs card (Nvidia or such) allow me to resolve this, or will i be alright with 1280.
Thanks
Dean

Also, the new monitor is widescreen, so the images are stretched a bit, unless i switch it to 4:3 instead of wide?
Is there something i should be doing.
Thanks
Dean

I had a similar problem when I upgraded to my current Dell widescreen; in that the ancient GPX card didn't support the correct res and everything was distorted.

A new card is the only fix I think; best thing is to sift through the manufacturer's websites for specs - when I got mine the ATI site listed all the avalable resolutions for each of the cards ;)

Cheers for the replies Guys.
I went onto the info about my graphics card in the settings menu, and there was a update drivers option.
I clicked the link and it took me to the Intel drivers page.
It seems as if i had a really old version of the driver.
The new driver software is now installed and has given me the option for the screen resolution i need (1680x1050).
End result = lovely new monitor working at correct resolution, and,
WOW! its fantastic!!!!!!

Think i will look into buying a new more powerful PC after xmas though.
Thanks again.
Dean:)
