Hi...what are peoples thoughts on graphic tablets.
I do mainly wedding photography and studio portraits and am looking to get one for Xmas but to be honest don't know if I just want one, or really need one or would ever use one.
I do find editing using a mouse a little tricky at times but would a tablet/pen be any better.
Also any preference / suggestion on makes models cost....dotn want to spend a fortune.

I have one and it does make things like brushing MUCH easier. I personally use a Wacom Bamboo Pen & Touch and it does the job perfectly well and I'd recommend it for sure.
 
How you get on with a tablet may be personal, but I use nothing else with my desktop - NO MOUSE!

Wacom, but look after the pen, they don't last forever & are expensive to replace. An A5 tablet is good.

I also use a Wacom Bamboo pen and touch. I don't use it all the time, but for retouching and cloning it's great. Only a small size, but I haven't found this a problem.
 
I was like you, but decided to buy one, at first I wondered why, because I felt I would never get used to it, but after practice I love it. www.phlearn. Com has a little vid on it. I found it helpful, especially the settings. I only bought the small version
 
I bought one off the Wacom website - the new intuos £50. I absolutely love it. Great investment and I use it for all my editing in PS.
 
Use a Wacom bamboo.

Had it several months and never seemed to get on with it. But eventually forced myself, to use it solidly, for a couple of days and haven't looked back.
 
I would try someone else's first, and be aware that it will take you a decent amount of time to get used to it.

Then I would suggest to get as big as your desk space allows, I use a large, widescreen Wacom Intuous 3 which I love to pieces. Things like the pressure sensitive tip of the pen are just... well... I couldn't be without it now.
