I understand all the arguments about guarantees.and paying tax but how can you justify paying uk prices when "grey" imports are soooo much cheaper. Currently Cameriz are beating all other players. For instance a canon RF 100-300 f2.8 is £6700 and the rf 400 2.8 £7500 both of those are over £4000 more expensive from UK suppliers .
I have used most of the major non uk suppliers and never had any issues. I do always pay by CC or PayPal to give me some protection.

No loyalty to UK retailers when it comes to photography gear, unless something was less than £100 difference then I’ll only ever buy grey.

UK prices are crazy, I only bought my Z7ii after Nikon was doing a promotion and knocked £1,000 off the price.
Back in 2005 I was sitting in the airport waiting for the flight to Spain, reading the latest issue of the AP, the Nikon D70 article peaked my interest, but the price didn't, body and the 18-70 lens was around £1200, I wasn't thinking about buying one in Spain, but I did find myself in a store selling electronics, they had just had the D70 in stock, I couldn't help myself, and walked out the store with a brand new D70, 18-70 lens etc, they even gave me a couple of 256mb cards for the total price of £730.

Crazy thing is when I got back to the UK, because the camera was sourced through Nikon BV, where Nikon UK imports all their gear from, I registered it online and got a full warranty, even when they recalled the faulty battery, they sent me a new one.

There are various UK based grey importers with long track records of supply and customer experiences.

Cameriz Limited on the other hand were only incorporated on 31st July 2025

What makes interesting reading is their own info pages about VAT (they have what they described as "Applied Status" and are potentially already adding VAT to their prices. However, I know nothing of VAT registration but cannot find anything that refers to Applied Status.

Also, their info pages about Warranty and Returns is worth a read.

Oh, IIRC all(?) the other UK based grey importers explain on their pages that they are acting as the buyers agent i.e. you the buyer are the importer.........no such information is visible on the Cameriz website.

So, as in all matters buying caveat emptor

Box Brownie. I hear what you say but CC or PayPal purchases give me confidence that I will get the kit and a £4k saving covers one heck of a repair should i need one and they won't pay..
So far i have bought 3 camera bodies and a few lenses from them.and been very happy with my purchases. As you say though caveat emptor.

There's a twilight zone where you apply for VAT registration and issue VAT invoices before it's finalised.

It's not well explained by HMRC in my opinion.

The only camera I bought via a UK retailer was first DLSR, a Canon 450D.
My 50D came via Scottish chap whose name I can't recall but he was well known here.
Various lenses have come via a couple of grey importers along with my 80D and my R10 and lenses all via Cotswold Cameras.
My R10 I also registered it on Canons website so I can only presume it was allocated to the UK.
I've never needed to make a warranty claim.
The money I recently saved on a Canon RF 24-240 was a no brainer.
I don't feel guilty about skirting around UK retailers, If I had a bottomless bucket of cash it would be different.

I am pretty sure this is why Nikon have summer offers again and now offering 5 years warranty for UK purchased lenses etc

Did they ship from the UK?

The prices are just incredible.

Perhaps they are following the HDEW model.
