Green Hairstreak

[Callophrys]

My first Green Hairstreak of the year, and also my first macro shot of 2017! These beautiful little butterflies are quite widespread on the North Yorkshire Moors, but can sometimes be difficult to spot as they occur at quite low density over a large area. They also don't sit still for very long!

Been searching for these not sure they are out quite yet here, but as you say hard to spot great little shot as they are incredibly flighty I cast a shadow on one as walking by and it flew off hadn't noticed it before that was a little gutting
