Green Square equivalent

Still considering the 50D or the D300/D300s.

As I understand it the green square program on the Canon is effectively a point and shoot mode which the Nikon does not have. So my question is, if you have to take a photo quickly without thinking, how would you do it on the Nikon?

Probably a silly question but help would be appreciated. Many thanks.

I am still a beginner when it comes to all this but my camera is never on the green screen.
I leave mine in av and just adjust the aperture and iso as needed.

Pretty much that to be honest! Or you can use 'P' mode, which is like the green square mode but with a little more functionality. Just remember, the green square takes the averages of everything, it'll give you an average shutter speed, an average aperture, average ISO, so don't expect you pictures to be much better than 'average' ;)
