I have done it by ½ to 1 stop overexposing the background , there may well be better ways ,I am sure if there are someone on here will soon tell us

If you over expose enough, you can make anything white. It's not a good plan though.

Under exposing white so it goes grey is okay.

interesting - but if you underexposed would you not see the flash pattern of the light?
