Grey imports via ebay

Can any one give me some feed back on buying a new Nikon lens from ebay,looking at the cheaper 55-200 or 55-300 there looks to be a considerable saving on both lenses is it wise or not.

You pays your money and takes your chance....IF there is an issue, try taking it back for an exchange......

Then another outlook. You want the local camera shop to remain open for all those other bits you get occassionally. How is he going to remain in business to be there when you need him? You have to support him to keep him in business - you cannot have it both ways.

I do support him and have done for the last 40 years bought a d5100 from him on Saturday a Fuji w3 last year,the lens would be a stop gap measure so would like to save money on it,but thanks any way

If you are buying grey imports from eBay you have to take into account the import duty costs unless they mention them already in the listing
I have purchased out of eBay from places such as OnestopDigital and Procamerashop purchasing grey imports... I do buy some UK products too
