Grrr, Westminster council

I have only just recently sorted out a logo type thing so I can put together a web site. Because of the name I based it on a street sign as the two kind of go together.

And now I cannot use it as Westminster council have copyrighted their street signs!

Have you contacted them to check the extent of copyright ... ... it reads like they want to prevent reproduced copies of the signs and I am not sure a photograph of one in situ constitutes reproduction in that sense ... :shrug:#

Even if it does they may, if used tastefully and appropriate credits are given, permit use in cases such as yours ... ... worth a shot anyway if you really wanted to use your idea ...

It is not a photo but a derivative idea, like the London tourism logo:

I was a bit concerned about it using such an unoriginal idea but it made sense and worked well.

Unfortunately the council are interested in protecting their image rights rather than just stopping people selling tourist trinkets.

Back to the drawing board, well Photoshop, then.
