Any one got any idea on the D90, how will it fair when the D7000 finally hits the stores?

I'm thinking of going back to a 90, I suspect there might be a glut of used ones? Also wonder about the 'street price', best I've seen is £589, might it take a hit?

I'd love a D7000? however the price tag is a bit steep . . . I dont have the need for anything that special . . . only me and the computer to impress . . .

Any one have a view, opinion or inside information . . . ? Any one want a nearly new D5000 body?

There will certainly be a few D90 coming onto the market purely because some people like to chase gear and get the latest thing. Nikon have said they are contuning the D90 alongside the D7000, so they obviuosly think there is still a market for it.

The D7000 will drop in price a few hundred quid within a few weeks of hitting the shelves and I wouldnt be suprised if as few pop up after Xmas from people who have been given them as gifts etc and dont want them.

I'd maybe hold your horses until after Xmas and see where the D7000's price settles. If its still to high, you wont be short of D90's new or second hand to choose from.

I love my D90 and I have to say if you want a camera, buy whats out now, otherwise you'll wait forever!

Nick.

Thanks for the replies gents. I'm in no hurry . . . but I do get a little edgy once I have decided what to do, then its seek alternative opinions. I had a 90 and sold it!!! I know :cuckoo: but, one has a dodgy knee, so getting down low is a problem, hence D5000, a D90 in all but name with a swivel screen . . . almost a 90?

And thats the problem, its the 'almost bits' I'm beginning to miss, so, no change in image quality, thats not the problem. But the pentaprism view finder, 3" screen and rear button array are better on the D90 . . . I find the live view focus on the 5000 so slow, I start to shake by the time it beeps:lol: getting old!!! I know that wont be better on the D90, however, I wont miss the animated screen with its slow focus, I have a G1 with 'flippy floppy screen' and fast focus, that fits my, 'small, light, go anywhere needs'. Not small enough for some, but it suits me.

D90 price wont get hit that much. D7000 is on sale for around £1100 with Jessops. That will drop fairly quickly, at most I would guess by £250 (think the D300s lowest price on launch was £1270, has gone to £980, now £1050). So £800-£850 will be the lowest price 6-12 months later. The D90 is £550-£600 so think that is a big enough gap not to compete in most cases, so doubt it will fall much.
