A lot of companies trade under different names. Sometimes they are very similar products just made to look different, sometimes a different brand name for the identical item in different countries.
But Velbon is a very good name and they make some very good tripods indeed. And also some not so good smaller cheaper ones. The clue to where it sits in the range will be hidden in the model number which starts with a 2 which is usually mid-range in terms of size, but could mean absolutely anything! If you're familar with tripods you can tell if it's any good in about five seconds, and if you take it in to a dealer and compare it to a few others you should get a pretty good idea.
Question is, does it do the job? If the head isn't up to much, that's easy to replace. RedSnapper RSH-12 is a really nice ball head for only £50, though there are loads of others. I particularly like Benro for quality and value - also known as Induro
Thanks Richard. You always seem to be about to give advice!
well it is pretty old. Its still in its original box!! I have it for now off of my fiancée's mum as she used to be into photography a few years ago but not so recently!
The tripod is in excellent condition, and the head is a three way which i like - im not to sure on the ball head varieties!!
