Hama Battery - Any Problems?

Just wondering if anyone has experienced any problems with these batteries. I purchased one recently for my D700 but when tried to charge it up the LED on the charger went to 'full' condition within about 30 seconds. To cut a long story short, the battery wouldn't take the charge. The charger is fine with my existing battery. I sent the battery back to Picstop who replaced it with no difficulties but the replacement is doing exactly the same thing. :(

There is/was a similar thing on Canon batteries where the original canon charger would not charge 3rd party batteries properly.

I bought Hahnel ones for my G1x and these charge ok.

Never used 3rd party ones for Nikon before - but its strange you are experiencing the same problem as the canon.
 
Had the same problem with 3rd party battery for the Olympus EM-5,for some reason they wont charge in Olympus charger,they need their own charger.

Thanks for the responses. Seems It's just not going to work. Hopefully Picstop will do a refund. Left it on the charger best part of 24 hrs just incase it decided to kick in at some stage, but doesn't even power the LCD on top!
 
Hi, This is a regular occurance with some third party batteries when trying to charge them in the camera makers own charger.

If you had bought a third party battery that was "Fully Decoded" then it would probably work in your charger.

I think you are right - i read somewhere that 3rd batteries need a chip/smart chip inside for it to work with original chargers.

I would return the battery and get a better brand one. Worth asking on the forum to see what others use.
