Hand grip straps, any good?

Yeah, I've got what looks like that exact one, or I did at any rate, became a bit tatty eventually after about 2 years and I stopped using it when I fitted the Black Rapid strap :lol:

Well worth getting for that sort of money :thumbs:
 
That has to be worth a try for those like me who have never used one, so thanks for the link - my first camera-related present this christmas, even if I bought it myself !
 
I've had one very similar - it was a menon hand strap - til I got the real mcCoy of a Nikon AH-4... Which has served me well thru a number of camera bodies & grips over the last 2years...

Althou its rather expensive but well worth the money (original Nikon version) althou a AH4-II can be found for a 1/4 of the price of the AH-4.. (Tawain ebay seller)..

I much prefere the hand strap as the neck strap can get in the way - but I still very ocassionally use the neck strap...

They do get some getting "use to" - in my eye's that is .... But then again doesn't anything :shrug:

Not maybe this exact one but similar. I'm tempted. Looks to be useful for hand-holding in low-light, portrait aspect.

I've got one similar to that for my D90 and find it useless - you can have it for free if you pm me your address. I can't use the control wheels or reach the shutter release when using the strap but you might find the experience different. Let me know if you want it :)
 
I've looked into hand straps before and know a few pros that love them. I just can't decide though, I often work with two bodies and switch rapidly so having them on neck straps works faster for me :S

I guess with practice the experience would change and possibly be better but it's that initial trial period that alludes me.
 
i use one on my 5DII, mainly forstudio work so i ca nspread the load over tha back of my hand when not in use. i hate neck straps getting in the way or just flapping about.
 
Is it not possible to have a neck strap and a hand strap fitted at the same time ?
I find that if working with 2 cameras then 2 neck straps are a pain, so am imagining using one round my neck, with the other with both a neck and hand strap fitted, so that when not in use it can be slung over a shoulder, leaving the other neck strap unrestricted.

Yes it is possible as I've 2 metal spring clip & those key ring circles thingies attached to the end of my neck strap which I can attach to my hand strap if I require the use of a neck strap.....

Apologies for the lack of technical names :$
