Hi there,

I'm looking to buy hand strap for my camera (5dmk2). I don't have a camera grip, so i can't use the official one.

There is lots of hand straps on ebay, but as there are no reviews it's hard to tell which one is good. Most of them are really inexpensive, but they come from HK or China, so the delivery time will be long. I don't really fancy waiting 3 weeks only to learn that the strap I bought I crap. That's why I'd like to ask for recommendation. Maybe some of you bought one and think that it's good/crap. PLease post your views here. thank you

I occasionally used a Op/Tech wrist strap similar to the one in this LINK
the only difference I can see is that the one I have fitted to the body as would a normal strap rather than the loop type here. It worked fine but it's been sat on a window sill unused for a couple of years or so. I can't see me ever using it again and you're quite welcome to it free of charge if you want it. Drop me a PM if you do.

cheers

Thank you for your offer, but I would really prefer hand strap for easy in and out action, rather than a wrist strap.

No problem, wrist straps work fine but I think you're right the hand strap is more convenient.

I've used Nikons AH-4 (its expensive) on all Nikon bodies right thru from a D40 upto my D700 and all these have had grips on...

Its lasted me over 3yrs now - I was going to get the MKIII version just to see what its like if my AH-4 ever decided to give up the ghost...

I dont have small hands neither and it fits my shovels well... Only prob being is that when they're new they're like cardboard but do soften up nicely.. Oh yes it is leather :D

I had a menon version of something very similar to those... Very uncomfortable and couldn't really access the dials/buttons hence why I got the AH-4....

Prob the worse thing to recommend a Canon user a Nikon product - but hey if you ever decide to change to Nikon at least you have a comfy hand strap ;)

I don't think this will happen anytime soon, but thank you for recommendation Steve

There's also the Canon Hand Strap E2, which attaches to the tripod mount, bypassing the need for a BG. However, as Trig has mentioned, the Nikon AH-4 seems to come more highly recommended - TheDigitalPicture certainly seem to prefer it to the Canon E1.
Now that I've bought a load of Nikon lens caps for my Canon lenses, I'm thinking about swapping over to this too :)

That looks very good and comfy, but as this will be mainly for studio use and I'll be sliding my hand in and taking it out quite often I need the strap to be a simple design. E2 looks good though. Looking at eBay prices now and I can see that it's much cheaper.

Seems that a used Nikon AH-4 went for £14.99 on ebay with just one opening bid..... Seems that they got themselves abit of a bargain if you ask me..
