I've just received confirmation that my photographers backstage pass to Lovebox festival is on the way! To say I'm slightly excited is somewhat of an understatement!

GET IN!!

As usual, when these things get bigger outside people are brought in and new rules apply. It depends who you got your pass from and if its a XXX/AAA or just backstage.

At the end of the day, the artist has the final say as to wether you get on stage. This is done through the stage manager (they are god .... suck up)

Down in the pit is now a nightmare. Higher stages, bigger sound monitors, lights and pyros are all in the way. Also the pit manager will only let you in for the first 2/3 tracks ... then out. Beware the crowd when in the pit. Keep your cameras in front. I had a some **** pour his beer over my 1ds m3 & 300mm 2.8. All because I was in front. Also bottles of water get thrown.

Think outside the box is my advise. Make friends with the right people. dont get in the way and know who your talking to.

TIP:

You wont see many of my shots from the pit or stage. Figure out where I am and thats a start :)

To be honest I dont know whether its AAA or what, whats the difference here?

Ill get my "sucking up lips" on then I think, it is after all a who you know business Im afraid to say!
 
I have had AAA & XXX & Press & Backstage ... plus the right wristband and was working for fatboy slim & he was on stage & I was supposed to get photos for his pr & the G4S guard wouldnt let me in :) because he didnt have the bit of paper with the pass plan. hahahaha

I spend more time having confrontations with the security then anything else. I now just hit them and walk in :)

Grow a thick skin

Think im going to have to get used to this lark then! Either way its a first and I know its going to be stupidly tough, though Im still overjoyed ant getting a big gig to kick off the summer though!

Are you there this year for the 3 days?
 
I dont know yet but one of the crew will be there for all of it. I'll try and get down but at some point.

Im old so will try and get away with doing as little as possible. Leave it to the young to meet the stars and i'll take the money instead hahahaha

LOL now there's a businessman if I ever did see one ;) It is indeed the way forwards!

Of course, if you're ever in need of someone for a shoot... :whistling: lol
