Sorry if this has been on here before, but I can't remember where it was I read it.

I'd like to be able to access all my original RAW files in my external HD from either my lap top or desktop

I'm sure I read that it was possible to connect my external HD to my BT router, and get to my HD from there. Is this possible?

I'm not sure what the BT hub offers..... but to attach a external HDD it would need to be a NAS drive (network attached storage device)

I recently purcahsed a Netgeat Readynas Duo for the same reason (to be able to access files from different PC's/laptops in the house..... can access for outside the house aswell....

If your HDD has an ethernet port, then your home dry :D

Yes, plug your USB hard drive into the USB port on the router, then you should be able to type \\BTHUB\Disk_a1 into an explorer window and you'll be on your hard drive, you could either save it as a Network Place or map it as a network hard drive. I found it a bit patchy when I tried it. I think it can read and write to FAT32 but only read from NTFS (if at all).

the most reliable way would be to plug it into your PC and then share it as a network folder from there
buffalo routers had the USB option
entirely depends upon your BT hub...which doesn't fill me with confidence.
the cheapish alternative is to transplant the HDD from the caddy you have into a NAS enabled caddy
