....ok so I went to install an internal card reader, and for this I needed to move all hard drives down one in the bays. Did this, and now one of my drives just does not work. Its not showing in the bios, in the bios setup and it driving me nuts. Is the drive dead??? Had about 40gb of music on there, nothing to disastrous just a PITA :(

Did you disconnect the the wires ? or just reposition the HDD's ?

Switch off and recheck the Connections ...... I've had this a few times......

If that don't work... put it back as it was to retrace your steps...

yeah took out all the connections to move them. have reverted to how it was but still no joy. also have checked and double checked the slave\master as they are IDE, changed over the IDE ribbon, no joy and also switched between primary and secondary - no joy the drive just will not pick up

Got an external caddy to try ?

IDE one broken (as you can see my luck continues :) ) and I have a SATA one. Gonna try and get it to another pc today

make sure the cables are connected fully on the board aswell, they may come lose when moving things around

another way to check the drive is to plug it into something thing that you know is working (swap it with a working on in the PC)
