I have been sorting out old pc stuff and have now got 4 spare hard drives from desk top pc's.

With me using a laptop the hardrives are useless unless there is a way of hooking them up to the laptop and using them as storage, is this possible and if so how do I do it?

You need to buy external enclosures for them.

Also, it's important to find out if they are SATA drives ot IDE drives as the enclosures are different.

Just to add, your drives will be 3.5" drives (desktop) not 2.5" drives (laptop) so will need a 3.5" enclosure with a power supply

Ta Jim is there a way of doing all 4 at once?

I just bought an iconnect from Iomega. It has four usb ports and also built in wireless so you can make a NAS very cheaply. Built in Bit Torrent and Backup and acts as a media streaming server too.

Hard drive dock is the answer (or 4 if you want) the advantage is you can change drive quickly and easily by swapping the disk in the top.

Amazon do this freecom one reasonable
