Yes
as the title says:- has any body used camera control pro

I have downloaded a demo / trial of it, btu when i connect my nikon d50 is says no camera detected.

I have had a look in the readme file and help files, and they defiantly mention that D50s are compatible.

anybody else had problems, or know of a fix? thanks

I have used the trial with my D50 and didnt have any problems, how is your camera setup in the menus? Is it set as camera or mass storage device? Thats the only thing I can think of

it is showig as mass storage device on wndows, so you probably have hit the nail on the head.

where is the settign in the camera manu to change that thoug? i cant see it anywhere (woods / trees and all that)

yay found it. was under usb hope i can find it again to turn it off lol

Its in the menu under the spannerunder USB should be set to ptp

although it doesent quite do what i was execting, I though the camera control pro showed the image before capture, but thinking about it, hwo could it, because you look through the viewfinder and see an image from a mirror, so it isnt going to the sensor or anything that can conect to the pc untill you take the picture. still usefull in a studio if you want to change setting or take a picture without risking moving the camera i guess

Edit
can see it would be a usefull learnign tool to quickly see what effects settings have, certainly faster than goign through the on camera manus.

Thanks for the help Wile E

I messed with it and found pretty much what you have said, may get round to buying it but at the moment I doubt I'll use it much. One thing I noticed is that is doesn't seem to show the histogram which is a bit of a pain, unless I missed it :bonk:

i did ge the histogram to come up
erm where was it though. give me a sec ill get my cam back out and have another look

when you take picture and it comes up with the little review of it, underneath there is a block arrow (looks like a play button) hit that and you get the histograph.

when you say "and found pretty much what you have said" do you mean you agrea with what i said, or that you found a way to preview onto the computer before taking the pic?

No agree with your coments, doubt it will be able to live preview the picture.

ah. phew thought i was going mad there for a moment, I would guess the only way you would be able to live preview would be with some kind of onto the viewfinder attachment.

Its quite ironic, it is much easier to achieve a live preview with a P&S or bridge camera (minolta for example do one for the dimage A1)

i'm having the same problem in d90 it says no camera was detected can anyone help please?

I've got it but don't use it that much really - with people images I sometimes use it to shoot my initial set up tethered as the images on the computer screen are vastly superior to what you get on the preview screen of the camera. I use it mainly when I shoot still life or products.

I have allso been thinking about control pro. I am considering buying a laptop & using control pro to view shots before taking them. I just keep wondering if it would be worthwhile . do many people do this . colin
