Has anyone here downgraded their 5d MKII to a 5DI?

Just wondering if anybody has downgraded to the MK1 - and what their thoughts are.

It would appear that the MKII is the better camera in all aspects but would it be tragically depressing to go to the MK1? (I haven't owned a 5D1 before)

I know what I would miss greatly, which is live view. I don't need the extra resolution the MKII gives me, and I doubt the sensor dust will make that much difference to me since I'm not professional.

The reason for the downgrade would be financial - and downgrading would give me an extra £600 I think. The other option would be to sell of glass that I'm not using - which I may well do anyway.

Any thoughts??? Following on from the whole sensor argument I posted earlier I don't want to go APS-C anyway as my lenses are now all geared towards FF, so the logical thing seems to go MK1.
 
What do you shoot and what glass do you have?

I think ISO performance is the big one with the 5D mkII, i.e it's v good, so what ISO do you usually shoot at?
 
I went from a Mk1 to a Mk2 and at first I can remember thinking the Mk1 gave me a nicer looking image. There is more learning involved in getting the best out of a Mk2. The high resolution shows up poor technique more.

Knowing the camera better the 2 is superior in many ways but I still have fond memories and great images from the Mk1 so whist I don't want to go back it would not be that big a hardship really.

Well the problem is - and to state the obvious, I like being able to shoot at high ISO, and do shoot at ISO 1600 often. .... and I suppose with that i've kind of answered my own question.

I'm not a portrait person, if I was it wouldn't be problematic to go to 5D1 - and I shoot a bit of everything but not action/sports (otherwise I wouldn't have a 5D) - generally geared towards street and nature/landscapes.

I have the Oly 24 2.8, 50 1.4, Voigtlander 40mm F2, Canon 85 1.8, 70-200 F4L and 200L at the moment. One or 2 of those lenses will be sold, probably the 70-200 F4L and the Voigtlander - I would keep it if I didn't need the money because its a work of art....

Rob is the ISO performance day and night difference or marginal?
 
I've never used a 5D so I can't comment on that. I came from a 550D to 7D and then a 5D2 when I gave the 550D to the wife to make room. I have a good friend with a 5D and I like the photos he gets from it. He keeps asking if I'd swap my 5D2 for his 5D, even just for a day, but the closest he's come to it has been half an hour while in my back garden. I'd really hate to lose my 5D2 now as it's my most used camera at the moment, but if needs (and finances) must then the 5D would be a good fall back.
