Hash # Symbol Has Appeared On Camera Screen!

Hope this is the right forum but as above, a # symbol is showing on the top screen of my 1dmk2 for some reason. I have recently connected the camera to my laptop via the firewire port so maybe this has something to do with it? The symbol appears next to the selected metering display. Any ideas please? Thanks in advance.
