Good morning,

I recently joined Talk Photography following a recommendation from Claude, an AI assistant, which suggested this forum as one of the best UK platforms for the private sale of quality photographic equipment — describing it as a community of knowledgeable enthusiasts and professionals who understand the true value of the equipment they are seeking.

I spent my career earning an income from photography, a profession I chose in part because, following the loss of sight in one eye, it suited a two-dimensional way of working. Over the years I used a range of excellent cameras, all very much fit for purpose. Upon retiring, I moved away from fast-action systems and invested in cameras that, in my humble opinion, produce truly exquisite image files.

Unfortunately, following further operations on both eyes, my remaining vision is now insufficient to continue, which is the reason I find myself selling my entire kit at once.

The equipment I am looking to sell is as follows:

• Leica SL2 and SL3, with a full set of APO lenses
• Hasselblad 907X with XCD lenses

I would be very grateful if a member of the forum could kindly point me towards the correct thread or section in which to place these items for sale.

Thank you in advance for your assistance and for making me welcome.

There's a for sale section but you have to have been here a while and made a certain number of posts before you can access it. Someone will be along to explain the specifics but I just thought I'd post to say "Hi" and to say that I'm so sorry to read that your eyesight is now an issue.

If you need to move the kit on quickly, I've recently sold quite a lot to a company called Ffords in Scotland. They'll inspect and then give you a quote. There are a few companies which will do this and others will doubtless recommend some for you and your kit and this might be a good way for you to go.

Best wishes.
Alan.

Welcome Timothy, but sorry to hear that you are having to discontinue photography. Your AI friend Claude probably described TP as a place to sell things because we are all the things art said, but the classifieds section is a privilege of regular membership - we do not want the site to be used just as a sale and wanted platform.
The rule is the classifieds become available after 26 meaningful posts and 30 days on the site, but we would prefer membership to be for conversation and image sharing than just being able to trade. I don't feel I can bend the rules for you, although if you do stick around and meet those requirements, we all win.
I would recommend investigating selling your gear to Fords or another dealer, or at least getting prices from them to help with sale by any route.

Thank you much appreciated. Funnily enough the company you quoted was one of those on my list of five from claude. I shall try them as well. Many thanks for your advice.
