Perfect argument why your next lens should be a canon with a red band.
if shooting & pics are still fine it will suggest to me that the barrel distorted but optics are ok.
Depends on the make of the barrel, Tamron will likely be engineer plastic. Labour and parts will be more than a new one I think.
Once I got a Carl Zeiss lens from fleabay. solid metal barrel but seemed jammed. Got a Chinese technical to help, saw him use a hammer (literally) bang it.
And that is that, fixed.
The lens carries a market value of £800-1000 today.
