I've been "browsing" printers for a while and haven't got a clue really......no one to ask I spose. Always use Tesco to print my pics these days but want to do it myself as entering competitions at the local camera club more and more now.

Picked up a Canon Pixma MP560

Got it for just under £90 at Tescos today as there was £50 off.....now before I open it have I done the right thing???? Is this going to be good enough or should I be taking it back?????

Thanks for helping!!!:bonk:

Seems to have good overall reviews for printing to A4, so it should be fine.

I've always found that A4 is a bit on the small side for photoclub comps as they can lack the impact of a bigger image. For my comp images i use a mail order company who are cheap as chips.

I looked at the same printer myself about a month ago but decided against it purely because I still have a decent Canon scanner.

The wifi printing is a real bonus as I use a laptop and a mac often at the same time and having the ability to print from either is a real plus point.

pretty much agree with DF - i have a pixma 210, which really is canons very basic model [£50 and had £20 cashback] but never ceased to be amazed by its abilities to print a picture. However, for comp images I would go at least A3, maybe A2. Plenty of the mail order companies do them at very good prices.

So what your saying is the photo quality is pretty decent and I should be happy with it!
I'm not worried about printing much bigger just yet..... I did want the Epsom A3 printer but it was £238 and I can't justify that as I really really really want an iMac and I'm struggling to decide how to get one of those!!!!
(My current pc is not quick enough to handle PSE and it takes forever and day to do anything....v.frustrating!)

Im a firm believer in ordering all my pictures, has proven cheaper than printing myself.
Take a look at paper prices before you choose. Also i recommend ordering some bigger prints your pictures they will look very different, everyone i know was plesantly suprised when they see their pics nice and big.

Hi MrsG. I order my prints online however I recently purchased the Canon MP560 as it was on offer in PC world and thought that it might make a half decent standby printer, but i must say that it has far exceeded my expectations!! for speed, print quality and cost of prints. i still wouldn't print 200 prints on it, however if you need to print a dozen or so its a cracking little printer.

Thanks for this.

I know if I want a big big print I can order it and I'm not one to print the entire holiday album either. I want my pics to print nicely so I can give them to friends/family and frame them for myself without looking like I did them at home!

I think I'll keep it!

Cheers everyone!
