I've had a nikon D200 for a while,bought a D7000 yesterday,I can't shift the feeling I've done the wrong thing,anyone like to put my mind at rest one way or the other?.
Positive or negative, any views appreciated.
 
not knowledgable in nikons, so cant offer technical answer, however there must have been a feeling of need for a new camera. An itch to be scratched so to speak. From what i do know there is a bit of a technology gap between them so it might not be a bad investment. However the usual rule is lenses before bodies for marked improvements.
 
No doubt the D200 is better built and possibly better functionality, but the D7000 is the latest camera and should be leaps ahead of the D200 IQ wise, espeically at High ISO.
Why do you feel its a mistake?
 
I bought the7000 because I've got my new granddaughter on the way,all the revues have said the high iso and low light capability .
And to be honest I wanted a new camera.
Went on another site which said the 7000 would be a good downgrade from the 200( after getting the 7000).
All very confusing.
 
I have a 9 month old baby girl, getting a new toy for a new arrival is quite normal. If you wanted a new camera then why not treat yourself. The only reason you will find it a dissapointment is if you dont use it!

It's only a downgrade if you need a full magnesium body, in pretty much all other respects it's an upgrade.
 
Thanks all,put my mind at rest.have been out all weekend and if I'm honest it does seem to be a better camera . Nice with my 105mm nikor.
 
I think it's like most things when you spend money (£800) on an upgrade are you getting a better product.
 
Dont worry about what reveiws say.
Technicaly if you follow the herritage through, then yes it is a downgrade, but in reality, the technology in the D7000 is far better than that in the D200.

Its like driving a brand new BMW 5 series, or a 30 year old Ferarri. Yes the BMW is more advanced and newer, but its still technically a downgrade from a much older Ferrari.

What do YOU think. If you find it better, then its better.
 
The D7000 has excellent reviews :thumbs:
 
It's an upgrade I'd be very happy with ;)

A few days use will show you what a great piece of equipment it is.
 
Thanks to all,I'll pop out again when the light drops a bit,want to try some slow speed water shots .too bright earlier,no filters.
I want to post a few ,but I'm on an I pad no idea how to get them up.
Once again thank you for putting my mind at rest.
