I am earning approximately £2000 from some work experience i'm doing in a couple of months and wanted to invest it in my fledgling photography business.

I currently own:

Nikon D3
Nikkor 28-70mm f2.8
nikkor 70-200mm f2.8
Various Accessories (inc filters, wireless shutter trigger etc)
Nikon SB-600 flash unit.

I am looking for some ideas as to where the money should go. I think i need to invest in a couple of extra lenses (probably go for sigma) including a wide angle and a macro.
I think also a portable flash unit would be a good idea and a back up camera body. Unsure what the best options would be (maybe D300 or D200)

I was also considering investing in a laptop. I have a pretty decent desktop, but feel that i need a laptop to use in the field and at shoots. It needs to be powerful enough to run photoshop Cs3/Cs4 and lightroom.

Am really just looking for some ideas and recommendations.

Thanks

I am shooting some freelance editorial stuff and some weddings. I know 2K isn't much, but its a start. I wasn't looking at buying all that i listed above, was just after a few ideas on the above stuff.

I definately think a back up body would be best and an SB 900 flash so that i can trigger the sb-600 off camera.

I would get a second body and a wide angle. Maybe a low light lens would be better than a macro or do you really need one?

You may have enough left over for a laptop...

If you're doing any kind of paid work, I'd seriously suggest an extra body! If your D3 decides to pack it in one day in teh middle of a wedding, you'll be in trouble!

I'd imagine you can't get another D3, so maybe a crop sensor body? To make the best of both worlds?

Add another flash or 2 as well possibly for the staged indoors shots. Possibly another lens with a bit of overlap in case one of your others dies.get dropped etc.

Wide angle for FF? To keep inside your budget, I would go for the Sigma 12-24. If possible, try the one you're getting before you buy it, some people have had problems with them. Macro? Choice of 3 in the ~ 10mm range, the Tamron 90mm f/2.8 and either the Sigma or Nikkor 105mm f/2.8. Flash for off camera control? Maybe pocket wizards and another SB-600 would be cheaper than an SB-900? Not sure you'll have enough change for my recommendation for a 2nd body (D700) but you might squeeze a 2nd hand D300 out of it. Keep saving for the laptop!
