Have the new models moved you?

Everything about the 5D mk3 appeals to me apart from the price, as a hobbyist, even £2,000 is just too much for a camera body. I can't see it falling below £2,000 so I'll wait for the 7D replacement and see if that tickles my fancy.

In all honesty, 12mp will produce a decent A2 print and I seldom actually print bigger than A4. I dont see the point in having 75mb files to store and process when I can get the results I am happy with from a 4mb file. I only use jpeg, and really my strategy if I need better results would be to get the best out of my current gear before looking at any upgrades................

They way things are going do you see FF DSLR's having a sensor that will be the size somewhere between FF and MF in the next 5-10 years? Or will that not work (a rehaul of lens design?)

I'm looking at the D800E in about June but still too early to call atm, the 5DMkIII is just as likely - 50/50.

I like the D4 but its way too expensive this side of the olympics. The D800 is too slow and high iso appears dubious at this stage. So I'm thinking of a second-hand or ex-demo D3S with the D700 as a second body...

As I don't "need" to upgrade because my abilities are far from the limits of the D700, the only reason would only be for new features - video, high speed, even lower light - which are all boxes the D3S ticks...


Probably better to spend £4k on glass than bodies in the long-term, anyway...
