have you done an exhibition?

i have but it didnt effect anything other than feel good factor and a ticked box on my todo list... i was already well known as a photographer around here so it didnt do anything on that level either

saying that.. it was a well recieved well visited exhibition that lasted 8 weeks :)

I've got one live at the mo, its a kinda continuation of the same one from last year, a near permanent exhibition its turning out to be, its nothing special for London, quite a small but cult type gallery all in.

.. I can't say it brings in much monies but it did raise my confidence and my ambition. ..and I have made a few cool contacts out of it too.

I've done a few... first one in 1986/7. I was very ambitious then, and whether my work deserved it or not I'm not so sure .... But it does get you noticed.

I sold a lot more prints then than I have more recently, and the prints weren't a lot cheaper. It seems to me its a lot harder to sell exhibition prints now.

Can't remember any direct spin-offs from that first "show" but if you're trying to build a cv as a photographer it's a worthwhile step.

but bear in mind the expense of printing and framing. It treally builds up.:)

I was lucky.. the gallery lent me 50 frames of various sizes...i had to print and mount into the frames.... sold the lot in one go for the price it cost me to put on... no profit but a free exhibition and the kudos that goes with it.

this is mine
.. please have a ganders :)

Is it a local authority or Arts Council funded gallery? I know some have a stock of frames.

My current show is finishing on Saturday. It's at the National Library of Wales and they offered the use of their frames. Perhaps I'm just lucky (or provide exactly what they need) but they're buying the prints afterwards as well. I think.

However, sales to the general public have been poor. (ie 1 sale in 2 months!)
