30mm lenses namely the sigma 30mm 1.4

not a thirty year old street person :D
 
I got rid of my 50/1.8 and replaced it with a Sigma 30/1.4.

The fact that the nasty nifty is mechanically a plastic horror is just snobbery on my part, but I found 50mm is an almost useless focal length on a crop camera.

Very happy with the Sigma 30/1.4 - at least I've used it once or twice. But depth of field at f/1.4 is impossibly thin for a lot of things. I can see myself selling it eventually. My 17-55/2.8 IS is just so much more useful, though to be fair to the the chunky lil siggy the 17-55 replaces most lenses :)

Cheers for that post - I've been wondering about swapping the 50 for a 30 or 35 since for a walkabout lens it's a little long - might have to wait for the 17-55 instead.
 
I sold my 30mm f1.4 and bought a 50mm f1.4. Just sold the 50mm f1.4, and bought the 35mm f1.8. I call it the Goldilocks lens, as 30mm was too short, 50mm was (at times) too long and the 35mm is just right :D

i got a sigma 28, which i am quite happy with, but if i get my hands on a 35mm i will definitely swap it :p
 
+ 1 :) exactly what ive just done... the 50mm was just to narrow for the type of shots i was taking... but then I like wide shots :) my lens range only goes from 12-30 :p:D (or 19-50, as its crop) call me limmited, but its just how i shoot :)
 
Yes swopped it for a 17-40 which suited my needs better. would have kept it but cash is tight.
