Having a little Hassle with an OLY c220 zoom

A friend has an Olympus c-220 zoom.

Every time they push the shutter they get "write protect (ed)" across the
preview screen I have a little play (recently) with no avail, they don't have the
manual ( who reads the bloody things anyway :shrug: )
I did find one on line and emailed it to them today, ( technology is not their strong point) anyone know a "quick and simple fix"?

Does it take SD memory cards?

Check the little switch on the side, it should be 'up', ie near the top of the card.

Moving it down locks the card, stopping you adding more data.

I didn't think Xd cards have a write protected switch..thought it was only SD that did...hmm well take it out and see if there is a switch on the side.

no its the smart media card and there is no switch, first thing I checked
