Glad you're satisfied with your camera again. It must have felt a real bind to have gone down from the D700 which you loved to a canon which you don't particularly like the feel of.

To be honest, in your shoes, I'd have never gone to canon in the first place! Once you've found a brand that has control/menu layouts that suit you, I wouldn't switch to anything else, even if I was starting from scratch.

I couldn't image going from my 40D to a nikon now, I just really like the way my 40D feels, with the button layout and stuff. I was always edging towards canon when choosing my camera, but then I got a chance to try the bodies, and just realised I'd never really be satisfied with a different button/grip layout. That and some lenses canon does that I find important to have as an option to me that nikon don't have an equivalent to.

If the nikon bodies had felt more comfortable, I don't know what I would have done, I'm sure I'd be happy with the excellent performance of nikon's, but what about those lenses I wouldn't be able to get?

I can also vouch for the 150mm macro. Superb lens.

It wasnt quite as clear cut as that. There was probaby 2 years between selling the D700 and buying the first Canon. I had a D90 which replaced the D700 for a while too. Its not like I sold the D700 to come to Canon. I didnt have any photo gear at all left when I bought the Canon, just wanted to see what it was like. Yes in hindsight I wouldnt have done it, and just gone straight back to the D700 and saved a lot of expense and ballache, but thats life, we live and learn. I know now that Nikon are the make for me and I wont be changing that for a very long time.
