HDR, first attempt

yes, not used that before either, would like to do one with more than 3 shots, but my canon only does 3 ( i think), not sure if I could change the camera setting s manually without it shifting on the tripod

so i assume you did 3 shots.
well ive got a canon eos 100d and i'm not sure if you can do more with autobracketing, but you can change the exposure levels within a range on the 3 shots, or maybe just take a series say 5 manually and change exposure levels that way. as long as there is no winds or moving objects i would assume it would work ok. LIke i say the other way is using a single RAW image, which means u'd be able to take a moving object.
once again, lovely pick

Just flick the camera over to manual , set your aperture & then change the speed with as many shots as you want.
Just make sure you don't knock the camera while changing your settings.

Oh yea, forgot about the pic.... it looks just a tad too destaurated for me. The branches & wire can be problematic as Photomatix often makes an unnatural light halo round them making them look a little like they've been kind of glued onto the picture, if you see what I mean.

good subject matter.

(it looks like you might have a couple of dust spots in the sky to the right of the tower)

Hi there,
I'm new on here, having recently bought a 450 D which I'm loving!
I really like the HDR effect which can be achieved so I downloaded photmatix and been playing with loading std bracketed exposures, but my results have not been as colourfull as those I've seen, though they are better that the original shots.
Should I be using RAW shots to get the full effect from this technique?
BTW I do not have Photoshop if that makes any difference.
Thanks in davance ,
Steve
