im going to buy a manfrotto 055xprob tripod at weekend from jessops but i don't know what head to buy ??
i want one which is strong enough for my d300 and a heavy zoom lens

any advise as the shop assistant in our local jessops is not very knowlagable

It depends how big a lens you mean and what you want to shoot. If you have a 400mm 2.8/ 500mm f4 and want it for wildlife then I think a gimbal will be your best bet.
