Heather and Fluff

Got to love a highland, but.............. have its horns been sawn off, and if so why? I've seen loads of highlands in Scotland and down here on Dartmoor where there are several herds, but never seen one with cropped horns

Not a scooby... I just take photos :) I did wonder why but I really don't know.

I love highland cows. I went sea fishing up in Lochaline some years ago. Our host drove us up from Glasgow at night and warned us of the "stealth cows". He explained that it was quite common for them to wander out into the road at night and you come around the corner to face a big black hairy cow in the dark. That never happened on that trip but we did see some fine examples at the road side.

Oh! and I should have said. Great image.
My guess is that the farmers crop the points off the horns so that they don't injure each other when the come to blows.
