okay so these are quite possibly the best pictures i have taken to date maybe not technically wise but subject timing picture wise.

these were taken on my nikon d5100, with 50mm lens
the first ones settings where
  • ƒ/1.8
  • 1/250
  • ISO 800
and the second shot is
  • ƒ/2.0
  • 50.0 mm
  • 1/200
  • 800

i would love to know what you think :) thank you

lovely little thing, would have benefited from a larger DOF maybe f4 or f5.6 to get more of the Hedgehog in focus

Just my opinion

Thanks I was lossing the light so it was raise the ISO or open the aperture so I went with open the aperture :)

Upping ISO could have resulted in a noisy image- so I guess you made the right decision

I definitely agree on the colour balance problems, but nothing that can't be easily fixed...

Just had a very quick look at one of them...

very quick and dirty edit in CS5 - a couple of adjustment layers...

Colour Balance (Midtones - cyan/red -8, magenta/green +19, yellow/blue -3)

followed by

Vibrance Adjust ( Vibrance +20, Saturation +9)

Much, much better with the magenta cast removed.

Thank you will change them :)

don't take the figures as gospel, have a little play around with them and see what looks natural / as it was when you shot it... I wasn't there (and I'm a little red/green colourblind so possibly not the best person to be doing these edits) but thought if I could point you in the right direction...

The edited version of #1 for me,focus is spot on with the narrow depth of field you got.
