Just joined up this evening upon the reccomendation of Shootinjack and must say this seems to be a friendly place and somewhere I can learn a lot 
I am a total photography noob, only bought my first camera a month ago, I actually didn't have any intention of buying myself one... but went out to buy my girlfriend one for her birthday and came home with a Nikon D40 for myself... talk about throwing yourself in at the deep end :s
anyways, pretty much since the moment I bought it I have been totally hooked and looking to make it a long term serious hobby
