Hi! I'm a professional photographer and this is my first post. I've been asked to make a long term time lapse film, over one year. It's a landscape scene, but relatively accessible; I should be able to visit weekly, or every other week, to check everything is ok. It's going to be made using a Canon EOS 6D, operated by a canon intervalometer, taking a picture, probably, every hour. I'm trying to sort out an external power source system, running a 12V leisure battery, and have posted about that on the equipment forum as I need advice about the inverter I'll need to use. The whole caboodle will be housed in a locked pelican case, mounted on two posts, set in a concrete base. If anyone has experience and/or advice about this sort of endeavour, I'd love to hear about it, especially any potential pitfalls I should be aware of! Many thanks in advance and very best wishes. Richard

None too sure about the 'rig' or indeed time lapse but with 1 frame per hour for 365 days will, before any editing, yield @24fps a movie just over 6 minutes long. Is that your intended final result length?

Hi, I'm actually looking to have a final result about 2 mins after editing out night shots, duff shots etc. I'll probably do a shorter version as well, for social media. Cheers

Hi Richard, And welcome aboard TP. "Enjoy"

I wonder whether a specialist camera and power source might be a better bet? There are number of solutions (building sites seem to use them quite a bit)

Hi, thanks, yes there are specialist options but they're all far more expensive than a DIY rig and I'm now committed to that choice having made most of the main purchases. Cheers

Welcome to the forum Richard, sounds like it could be fun!

Good luck :welcome:
