Hello?

it's like the Man City trophy room in here......

yes blue (and empty) :geek:

Late last night thieves broke into Eastlands and stole the entire contents of Manchester City's trophy room. Police are looking for two men carrying a light blue carpet.

The world has ended... a 'proper' photography forum blighted by a whole section about poxy eyefones.

:(

PS - Android rocks, AND my Desire has a flash (and Flash) :finger:

No, not "eyephones" as you put it. All phones.

A photograph is a photograph, no matter what it is taken with. People are getting more and more creative with camera phones and it's only right that it should be recognised here.

Sorry have to agree to disagree. when it comes to people using I phones to shoot jobs then our business is diluted and over for any talentless wannabe to use a phone. what ever next?

There are facets of photography that don't have anything to do with earning money Daryl. No-one has mentioned shooting jobs with a phone.

instead of looking at this kind of thing as some sort of threat to your livelyhoods, try and think of them as something called 'fun'

they are nothing more than digital polaroids.

What the hell has this got to do with photography jobs? This is about people using their phones to capture a creative image.

I suppose you'd like all pens and pencils banned? All pocket cameras? Disposable cameras? Shall we only let professionals onto the forum?

Tell you what, I think all camera manufacturers and retailers should be legislated so only 'proper' professional cameras are sold and only to 'proper' professionals who can use them.

Don't be silly Macel.

guess you guys see that cutting a cow in half is art? Taxidermy.
A phone is a phone what the hell can you take a creative pic?????

You are all sounding like daft students that take a photo of a wll peeping paint and call it art!! Just dont see the point in talking about phones .... Any way leave you to it.

And people will in time use them for work in some way... wont be long.

Plus do I really care? Nope just seems pointless.

'fraid you're completely wrong mate.
Cutting a cow in half is cutting a cow in half. If you were there when I first walked round the Tate in Liverpool, you would be surprised how vocal I was about half the crap hung up.

Pointless? It's called doing it for fun. It's called enjoying capturing an image. It's not all about full manual control via 1000's of pounds worth of kit.
Are you saying that those who use a Lomo aren't photographers?
Are you saying the same about polaroid users?
Holga perhaps?

What about all the others where there's a lack of precision control or lots of expensive equipment.

You'll find that the people on here, are here to discuss photography because they enjoy it..in whatever form. It's not *all* about doing it to make money.
So please don't pee on their parade just because you don't see it as fun.

Daryl,
usually you talk a good bit of sense but this time you're wrong.

Have a look at this link, it's NSFW though

This is about making images with a camera, it just happens to be built into a phone.

A successful and reasonably well known pro I respect and I have done some training with said something very sensible to me. When you turn pro, whether it's full or part time, the problem often develops that your expensive equipment becomes your 'work tools' and it's very easy to lose sight of the fun and/or relaxation time you used to have with it. A way round ths is to have different equipment that is your 'fun' or 'hobby' camera.

I have got some 'fun' film cameras and now my HTC smart phone and having endless fun experimenting without worrying that about what I am doing with my work tools, getting paid for the clicks, or necessarily always having to lug big heavy DSLR kit around.

There is a place for any and all image taking equipment, and that place isn't always to make money from it. Like Dod, I have a huge amount of respect for most of what you say Daryl, but I also think you are missing the point on this one. :(

Thanks Dod for the link to my thread.

Daryl: Just keep your head in the sand mate, it'll make it easier for everyone to kick your arse.

I pity the idiots who presume that only those who own expensive equipment can be considered photographers. I enjoy using my iPhone to take my pictures more than I do with my 5D, L lenses, pocketwizards etc...or my medium format camera. Sure, I'm not going to go out and try to start a portrait, wedding or advertising photography business. The camera, be it a phone or a box with a little hole in it is just a tool.

I agree, photography on your mobile can be great fun. Its always there, capture moments you couldn't have. I love taking photos on my iPhone the same as when being 'serious' with my D5k. :)

I suppose in fairness if you're a pro, it can be harder to remember doing what you get paid for, purely for 'fun'. :)
