Yes
I bought an older camera off ebay to use in wet weather etc so its not as bad if i have an accident. However i turned it on, the photo through the viewfinder was fine, once i'd taken the picture and tried to view it on the lcd it was very grey and barely recognisable as a photo? I can't view the image on my computer as i haven't bought a compact flash converter yet but can anyone tell me if this is what the image will look like on my computer, therefore a camera error or if it should be okay on my computer and therefore just the screen? Sorry for my ramblings!!

Hi Zoe and welcome!

Older cameras LCD display screens are often not very accurate. I would hold out until you have viewed the picture on a PC.

Not much to go on really although it sounds like the inside of the LCD is shot. What make and model was it? Do you have a record of how it was described in the listing? Was there not any software and a usb lead to connect to the PC with? I would contact the seller asap if I were you.

You can pick up USB cables, cheap enought,if you have a local camera shop, they might have a few lying around :)

Also just check the ISO,you shot at,some of the early cameras were very bad at high ISO,thought the viewfinder they looked ok,but checking them on the LCD yuk

It's a Nikon d1, but was bought in 2006, so not the very early version. It was described as good condition but no guarantee as the seller didn't understand all the functions. It came with only the body, so had to buy a charger and compactflash converter. Really hoping it is only the lcd as I can live with that!!
Thanks for all the replies

Will have a look online and see what usb lead it takes, might have one laying about you can have

What camera is it? probably got a USB lead laying about you can have, seem to have loads of them here and there

Could probably also send a copy of a software disc depending on make

Its a Nikon D1, if you do i'm happy to pay for postage etc for me to borrow it? thats very kind!!

I've put a Tamron AF 28-80mm f/3.5-5.6, which is definitely working!

Was hoping it was a Canon that's why I edited my post when I saw you had a Nikon, sorry can't help this time
